Biographie

Post grunge, loud / quiet guitar overload outfit Nada Surf hit the target with “Popular” in 1996. Some bands just disappear after a hit single. Matthew Caws used it as a launch point for a long term and solid career. Evolving musically and delighting a loyal and huge fanbase. Very few bands are the subject of published doctorates! Nada Surf are a critical part of the revolution that decided that titanium, skyscrape riffs and earthquake rhythm could be aligned with intelligent, deep songwriting and nuance, texture and precise sonic detail.

Years of touring and the unshakeable team of Caws and Daniel Lorca at the helm. Ira Elliot has held it down on drums since 1995 and the injection of fresh blood in Doug Gillard and Daniel Brummel on guitar and bass respectively.

The band’s eighth studio album “You Know Who You Are” has a fresh, supple muscle and energy charge that most young bands would aspire to in a debut.

The eloquent and thrilling articulation of the human condition forced through amplification.

Not bad for a band whose name is a reference to nothing.
